Mission Statement and Vision

TNAC is a national association comprised of nurses and other health care professionals from a variety of disciplines caring for patients with thoracic diseases. Our members work in hospitals, clinics, research and academic facilities in a variety of roles. TNAC's mission is to promote involvement in quality care in thoracic nursing practice through the development and support of nurses. We aim to advance standards of nursing care, expand knowledge of best practice guidelines related to our patient population and team with ongoing education and training to cultivate educational advancement and oppurtunities.

Update from Our Executive Commitee

A note to members from the TNAC membership co-ordinator,

As we continue to receive updates from the planning committee for TNAC’s next Annual General Meeting which will be held in Toronto on September 24,25,26 2012, our excitement continues to grow. We will forward all information including dates, guest speakers and accommodation suggestions as soon as they become available.

The Calgary committee left some pretty big boots to fill with their wonderful array of speakers, great venue and engaging activities. From what we have seen thus far, it certainly looks like our Toronto team is rising to the challenge. We are hoping for a great turnout again this year.

As we recall with pride the activities of the past four years since TNAC was founded and look forward to what we have yet to accomplish we are reminded that the current executive has been at the helm since our inception and has been made up entirely of members from the Ottawa area. As was mentioned during our last AGM in September, we feel it is due time this be revised. At that time, we advised our membership that following our next AGM, our current President (Francine Kelly, RN) and Vice-president (Natalie Ladouceur, RN) would be stepping down from their current positions and we sought volunteers or suggestions for candidates interested in exploring this opportunity.

To date, we have not received notice from any members interested in this opportunity. We sincerely hope that someone will come forward and accept this rewarding challenge. Alternatively, our other option appears to be sun downing the organization for a year and revisit our options thereafter.
